Woodlands Primary School Mission Statement
Woodlands Primary School Mission and Values
Mission
We will work as a team, in partnership with all members of the school community, to offer a high quality, stimulating, safe and innovative learning environment which values and supports all children to achieve their potential. We will nurture children who understand and are able to adapt positively as active citizens, to the diverse world in which they live, both now and in the future and grow as people.
Core Values
At Woodlands Primary School, we believe that every child:
- Has the right to an excellent education so that they are able to achieve their potential regardless of culture, ability or background;
- Should be taught the skills, attitudes and knowledge they will need to be successful now and in the future;
- Should be valued as an individual;
- Should be given opportunities to develop a strong sense of self which leads to self confidence;
- Should be taught to care: for themselves, for others, for their environment, for their world;
- Should be taught to celebrate and respect diversity, accepting others as unique individuals;
- Should be taught to work cooperatively with others and learn the value of team work;
- Should feel safe and secure in our school;
- Should learn about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle – both physical and emotional;
- Should learn the benefits of positive behaviour within clear boundaries;
- Should learn about choices so that they are able to adapt behaviour to different situations;
- Should be taught the personal and social skills they need to be adaptable, active citizens;
- Should be given opportunities to be heard and to participate within decision making processes;
- Should be given opportunities to participate actively in their own learning;
- Should be given opportunities to develop a sense of truth, justice and freedom;
- Should be given opportunities to create, be inspired, take risks and accept failure as part of learning
- Should be given opportunities to develop a sense of awe and wonder;
- Should be given opportunities to develop as spiritual and moral people;
- Should enjoy and be happy at school;
